Mr. Koo is a registered patent attorney with expertise in trademark and design prosecution and litigation in numerous areas of industry including cosmetics, online games, jewelry, clothing, fashion items, food, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, electronics, education.   




Mr. Koo is in charge of the trademark and design department at MUHANN and has had broad exposure to a wide range of issues with respect to trademarks and designs. He also regularly advises clients on issues related to copyright law. Mr. Koo has handled numerous appeals to the Korean Patent Court as well as the Korean Supreme Court. 




His larger role at the firm also includes providing analysis and strategic planning for domestic clients seeking to secure trademark and design rights abroad, as well as devising counterplans for domestic clients to deal with infringement of trademark and design rights abroad.




Prior to founding MUHANN, Mr. Koo worked for another significant Korean IP firm for several years, where he was responsible for trademark/design prosecution acting on behalf of multinational companies as well as Korean companies. During this stage in his career, he was also involved in a variety of trademark infringement lawsuits.




Mr. Koo is named a "TRADEMARK IP STAR" in several editions of Managing IP and is listed in the 2022 edition of WTR 1000. Since 2018, he has been an arbitrator as part of the KIPO Trademark & Design Dispute Resolution Committee and in that capacity regularly handles a variety of arbitration cases.




Mr. Koo received his Bachelor of Science in Natural Fibers from Seoul National University.
